Today I tacked Grady up, just to see his reaction to make sure he has really been ridden before. He didnt care about a thing and didnt even mouth at the bit. I took him on another walk all tacked up this time practicing woah and go. He seems to be ok with it all so I believe Im going to try to get on him tomorrow and be lead around on him. He has suposibly been ridden about 10 times and I think he has. When I jumped around him and pulled my weight up on him by my elbows he hardly flicked an ear.
After our walk we worked some more on picking up his feet. Hes a quick learner but also seems to be very stubborn. When I tried his front feet he picked them both up and held them up for me untill I set them down. I tried his right hind and that was much more difficult. he did not want me touching him on his hind legs and definitely didnt want me to pick them up. When he would pick hem up he wanted to kick at me and jump away. Eventually after about 10 min he would let me pick up his right hind and hold it for about 5 seconds and set it down. I didnt even attempt his left hind.
While he was tied I brushed and fly sprayed him. he didnt seem to care about anything like that. Honestly I was expecting a reaction to the fly spray. He is still hard to catch in he pasture. I have given in and bribed him to come to me with feed and treats. Its just way too hot to chase a horse around the pasture for an hour.
